I hear it makes restoring these things a pain in the @$$, though. As the vinyl starts to degrade over the years, it allows moisture in, which becomes trapped and unleashes the rust monster on the entire roof.

I miss real hardtops. How many are left on the market these days? 2?

yeah add that to the fact the coupes were hand made and had zero preventative measures on the seams. Oh and plus British Leyland. Beyond all that man those S2's in general were pure sex as far as design is concerned

remember the one I told you about yesterday?
when I got home, I was looking for a picture of it I took a while back. I didn't have it but my fiance did. This pic was a while back when the guy still drove it. He had antique plate for it and everything. I'm not sure if he passed away or moved but the car just sat there on the other side and collected dust like many other beauties since the laws for old cars are very strict in Mexico DF. We were at that recycling plant dropping of glass and plastic bottles when I saw the car in that hydro box right before the walls started pressing it. We went up to it and her dad confirmed it was that guy's car.

Beautiful cars. I'd love one of these with either a hot 4.2 XK or a supercharged AJ16 (or even a 4.2l AJV8 would be good).
Add in subtle flares to hide wider tyres and a de-vinyled roof and it's perfect.

Those are the "Asteroid" wheels from the X308 XJR. I dunno, on the Series II, they just don't look quite...right. At least to me.

I think they look fantastic... The curves suit the car, 7 spoke designs are a nice blend between sophisticated and sporty, and the diameter makes a serious sporting upgrade statement... the exposed extended lugs are a nice touch toward that purposeful look, too. Not nearly as gaudy as some aftermarket wheels, and a bigger resto-mod statement than other vintage smaller-diameter wheels.
Not original, but they look like a serious, intentional upgrade.
